Mark Viduka says Arsenal once had an £8m striker who was even better than Harry Kane

Arsenal have had some truly amazing strikers during the Premier League era.

Robin van Persie and Ian Wright were both legends in their own right, while Nicolas Anelka was an incredibly talented young player during his time at Highbury.

Meanwhile, Thierry Henry is arguably the greatest Premier League striker of all-time.

Speaking on Leeds United’s TikTok page, Mark Viduka has been ranking and rating some of the best Premier League strikers of all-time, and he made an interesting claim about another former Gunners star.

Indeed, Viduka rated Dennis Bergkamp very highly as he ranked some of the Premier League’s best centre-forwards.

Mark Viduka picks Dennis Bergkamp over Harry Kane

Viduka was asked to pick between numerous top strikers from the Premier League era.

The Australian took a particular liking to Dennis Bergkamp picking him over the likes of Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Alan Shearer.

However, Thierry Henry ultimately knocked Bergkamp off his perch as Viduka appeared to suggest that the Frenchman was the best Premier League striker ever.

Bergkamp was world-class in his prime, and he played a massive part in Arsenal’s success in the 1990s and 2000s.

At just £8m, Bergkamp has to be considered one of the best Arsenal signings ever.

Dennis Bergkamp compared to Harry Kane

Viduka picked Bergkamp over Kane, and when you look at the two players’ numbers, you’d be inclined to disagree with this argument.

However, as anyone who watched Bergkamp play will tell you, these numbers don’t tell the full story.

Indeed, you can’t quantify Bergkamp’s incredible first-touch, his ability to read a game or his ability to make any defender look stupid.

Kane was a more lethal striker than the Dutchman, but in terms of pure quality, there may not be a player in Premier League history who is on the same level as Bergkamp.

Arsenal have had some amazing strikers over the years, but Bergkamp may well be the best of the bunch.
