Martin Keown played with and against a number of incredible players at Arsenal during his playing career.

The legendary Englishman rubbed shoulders with the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira on the pitch in their prime.

Having played with icons like the above, not much should surprise Keown these days, but he was in disbelief after watching one Arsenal player recently – Max Dowman.

Martin Keown couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Max Dowman in action for Arsenal

Dowman made his full Arsenal debut in their Carabao Cup clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 15-year-old became the youngest player in the history of the club and the competition to start a game, and he looked very good.

Dowman made more dribbles, drew more fouls and won more duels than anyone else on the pitch against the Seagulls, and definitely made his mark.

Martin Keown, who is an Arsenal fan, watched the game, and he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Speaking on talkSPORT about the teenager, he said: “Dowman has been, honestly, this young kid… This guy is so graceful, and it’s a young kid that’s arrived.

“We talk about generational talent, I don’t really like that, putting stuff on someone so early, but this is probably the best young player right now, I’d say in Europe, in world football.

“15 years of age! I thought my eyes were deceiving me the other night.”

Max Dowman will have two more records in his sights

Dowman has already broken a few records at Arsenal this season, but there are many more that are up for grabs.

If the teenager scores a goal at any point this term, he will become the club’s youngest player to do so, beating Cesc Fabregas’ record.

Dowman also has the opportunity to become the youngest-ever player to appear in the Champions League. He will have to get an opportunity by the end of this year to claim that record.

Mikel Arteta will be cautious about giving Dowman too many chances because of his age, but after his performance against Brighton, we think he deserves it.
