Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has now returned to the club for pre-season and has delivered a message to fans.

Martin Odegaard will be excited to get the new season with Arsenal underway.

The Norwegian playmaker will be determined to avoid a repeat of last season, when the Gunners finished as runners up in the Premier League behind Manchester City for a second successive campaign.

After the pain of missing out on silverware, Odegaard was able to enjoy a refreshing summer break, and will feel rejuvenated and ready to shine on the pitch again.

The midfielder has already been back to work for some time, as he was one of the players to join Mikel Arteta at an earlier training camp in Marbella.

Odegaard sent a message to Arsenal fans from Marbella, providing an update on the positive impact that the training camp was having and looking ahead to the new season.

Now pre-season is officially underway and the hard work will really begin in earnest. The former Real Madrid ace has now sent another message to the club’s supporters.

The images posted also show that Odegaard is now sporting a new look. The Norway international is now donning a short beard that has got fans talking in the comments section of his post.

What Arsenal need from Odegaard this season

Odegaard is a talismanic figure for the Gunners, and has a huge influence at the club on and off the pitch. Arteta will need him to shine on the pitch for the club again this season, but will also rely on him to be a true leader.

Odegaard believes that he has grown and developed as a captain, and he will need to lead by example this season, and set a standard for others to emulate. Having missed out on the title to Manchester City twice in a row, it would be easy for belief and determination in the dressing room to waiver. Odegaard can’t let that happen.
