Martin Zubimendi has been settling in at Arsenal really well.

The Spaniard joined the Gunners from Real Sociedad earlier this summer, and he has had a full pre-season under Mikel Arteta.

Zubimendi has been brilliant in the games Arsenal have played so far, but his best performance came against Athletic Club on Saturday.

The midfielder ran the show in the middle of the park, and he was helped by two Arsenal stars who played close to him.

Martin Zubimendi delivers verdict on Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and summer signing Martin Zubimendi all started for Arsenal against Athletic Club.

The Gunners picked up a dominant 3-0 win against Ernesto Valverde’s men, with Viktor Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz scoring three very good goals.

Arsenal were the better side from start to finish, and we think Zubimendi was the best player on the pitch by a mile.

The Spaniard has only been at the club for a little over a month, but he played like he has known Arteta’s system for years.

Zubimendi was excellent on the ball, just as good without it, and he seems to have formed a brilliant partnership with Rice and Odegaard already.

The Arsenal number 36 spoke about those two players after the game, and he seemed impressed.

He told Arsenal.com: “It was very easy – the team made it very easy for me. I think the rest of the team has integrated very well, and I think the people on and off the pitch are very friendly.

“[Declan and Martin Odegaard] are top players, the best in their position. It’s time to learn, adapt and enjoy it above all.”

Martin Zubimendi could be the signing of the summer

All the talk at Arsenal in recent weeks has been about Gyokeres, and rightly so.

The Gunners have needed a prolific striker for over three years, and the Swede showed what he can do against Athletic Club on Saturday.

However, Arsenal fans should not sleep on Zubimendi.

The North Londoners looked in complete control throughout the game, and that is because of the brilliance of the Spain international.

If Zubimendi stays fit and plays at the same level throughout the campaign, Arsenal will have a good chance of winning everything.
