Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner has heaped praise on Mikel Arteta and revealed what his favourite quality is about the Spaniard.

The American joined us from New England Revolution last summer. He has spent most of the season as a backup to Aaron Ramsdale, but he has done really well whenever he has played.

Turner is really enjoying his time at Arsenal and he absolutely loves playing under Arteta.

Matt Turner names his favourite Mikel Arteta quality at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has been the best manager in the Premier League this season.

The Spaniard has transformed our club on and off the pitch, and almost every single player who has played under him has improved massively.

Turner has only been with Arteta for about eight months, but he absolutely loves him. In an interview with The Guardian this week, he raved about the Arsenal boss.

The American said: “He likes to make your mind work in different ways, to switch it on and try to get your blood pumping in different ways, to just open your mind.” says Turner.

“And I think one of my favourite qualities about him is that he always has my back. No matter what I do on the pitch, you know, he’s gonna have my back because he knows I work really, really hard. I try my best every single day. And it’s easy to play for a guy like that, no matter how demanding he is.

“You know, you put yourself out there and you try to make his ideas come to life. And he’ll always back you up.”

Mikel Arteta always has his players’ back – this has been the case from the very first day.

That’s what makes him loved by every member of the squad, and it’s also one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal are on top of the Premier League table at the moment.

The bond Arteta has created among the players and around the club really is admirable. Not many managers can achieve this – not even the experienced ones like Antonio Conte, who threw everyone at Tottenham under the bus last month.

We’re so glad we have Arteta at the helm!
