Arsenal star Kai Havertz scored his first goal for the club yesterday after a difficult start to his career in North London.
The 24-year-old was allowed to take a penalty in the second half away at Bournemouth, and comfortably dispatched his spot-kick to make the score 3-0 to Arsenal.
The German international has received heavy criticism for his performances so far, with the attacking midfielder yet to score or assist since his £60m arrival from Chelsea in the summer.
Havertz opens his account
Havertz struck a well-hit penalty to finally end his goal drought, having not scored in any of his last 20 club games for both Arsenal and Chelsea prior to yesterday.
He has now expressed his delight on social media, with the Arsenal fans also serenading him throughout the game.
“Solid team performance. Appreciate all the support today from my teammates and the travelling fans. Means a lot,” he posted on Instagram.
A confidence boost?

Havertz has been low on confidence in his appearances so far, failing to register a shot on target in open play, but his goal appeared to lift his spirits.
It may now be hoped that he can begin to find his best form, and will enjoy a confidence boost after the Bournemouth victory.
With a crucial game against Manchester City next week, a resurgence in form for Havertz now would be perfectly timed, and the decision to give him the penalty kick was a well-thought-out move from usual takers Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
The fans at the game were very supportive of Havertz, and this may hopefully mark the beginning of a strong run of form in attacking situations. Until now, Havertz has been poor on the ball and going forward, even if he has had some good moments defensively, and it is now time for him to step up in terms of output.
