Micah Richards disagrees with what everyone is saying about Arsenal right now

Micah Richards does not agree with the notion that Arsenal are capitulating following their defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The former Premier League defender claims that the Gunners’ recent 1-0 win over Sporting CP proves that it is not the case, despite their defeat to Bournemouth.

Richards did admit that Arsenal have been overly reliant on set-pieces, but that is nothing new, and so far, that has been enough to keep them in the lead.

So, in theory, nothing has changed, and Richards is not yet buying into the notion that Arsenal are throwing away the Premier League title.

Micah Richards dismisses Arsenal ‘bottling’ claims

Despite being unimpressed by Arsenal’s performance against Bournemouth, Micah Richards does not seem to be giving up on their title chances just yet.

The former Premier League winner thinks Arsenal showed enough against Sporting to prove they still have fight left in them this season.

Right now, all the talk around Mikel Arteta’s team is whether they have the bottle to keep fighting for the Premier League title, and Richards is not yet accepting that they do not.

When asked whether Arsenal are imploding, Richards told The Rest Is Football: “I would say no because of the Sporting Lisbon result.

“We’ve had this conversation, and I feel like I am repeating myself: Arsenal are not creating enough chances.

“That has been their problem for a while, and this is not reactionary. This is what we’ve been talking about, I would say, for months now.

Set pieces have been getting them over the line, and when they get a set piece, they grow into the game. They have confidence. That is one aspect of it.

“I think you posed the question to me. Is that going to be enough? And I said, ‘Well, on paper it shouldn’t be enough, but they’re getting over the line with the set pieces’.

“You can only go off what they’re doing, and they had the massive lead. So you say yes, it’s going to be enough.”

Next weekend will be crucial for determining Arsenal’s chances of getting over the line as they travel away to the Etihad to face Man City.

The North London club must prove that they are still up for the fight, and before that, they will have the chance to prove the doubters wrong at home to Sporting.
