Pundit Micah Richards has made a bold prediction about how many goals Viktor Gyokeres will score in the Premier League this season.
There’s a lot of talk about Gyokeres right now, and sadly for the striker, it’s not all positive.
Frank Leboeuf slammed Arsenal’s decision to sign Gyokeres after seeing the Swede in action for just 60 minutes at Old Trafford, and he wasn’t the only one to react hastily.
It appears that some pundits are already out to get Mikel Arteta’s new striker, which is expected for a player who holds one of the strongest scoring records in Europe since 2023/24.

Micah Richards predicts Viktor Gyokeres’ goal tally this season
As Gyokeres has learned, with high standards comes high pressure, but it’s nothing that the striker can’t handle.
The 27-year-old will take time to adapt and, all being well, will leave his doubters red-faced by the end of the season.
One figure who certainly believes Gyokeres will answer his critics on the pitch is Micah Richards, who predicted how many goals the Swede will score in his debut Premier League campaign.
Speaking to Football Joe, Richards backed Arsenal’s number 14 to score 21 goals in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
“21 goals, I’m telling you, he’s a threat, good in the air, runs in behind, he can finish.”
If Gyokeres can maintain his free-scoring record over the previous two seasons, then the forward will coast to Richards’ predicted tally.
The £64m signing has scored 97 domestic goals since the 2023/24 season started, explaining why Arsenal opted to secure his signature.
Peter Crouch doesn’t agree with Richards on Gyokeres
Richards has faith in Gyokeres, but not everyone thinks the striker will be able to translate his scoring record in Portugal to England.
TNT Sports asked their matchday team to answer: Agree or disagree, Gyokeres will get 20 goals.
Peter Crouch was one to disagree, saying, “I’m going to say disagree on that.”
Commentator Darren Fletcher had a stronger answer to the question, but did agree with Crouch.
“Absolutely not, I think to score 20 Premier League goals is a difficult thing to do anyway and I think there are a lot of questions about Viktor Gyokeres so, I disagree.”
Presenter Lynsey Hipgrave also shared the same opinion.
“Disagree, I think Gyokeres will get double figures, I don’t think he’s going to get 20+.”
Joe Cole, however, was on the same page as Richards, backing the forward to hit 20.
“I agree, he’ll score 20+, I just don’t think it’ll be enough to bring the title for Arsenal.”
Has a Premier League striker had so many doubters in such a short amount of time?
The judgment after an hour in the English top-flight certainly suggests that Gyokeres takes that crown.
