Arsenal are still in the hunt for all four trophies this season but Micah Richards believes the Champions League is genuinely there for the taking for the Gunners.

Many will look at the Champions League as the biggest hurdle for Arsenal, with the league more or less wrapped up.

Indeed, speaking about Arsenal’s trophy chances, Micah Richards believes the competition suits them.

Micah Richards believes the Champions League suits Arsenal

Arsenal’s record in Europe this season is perfect but they know they’ll have to go to another level to navigate the knockout stages and be successful.

However, while it’s been a battle in the Premier League lately, Richards believes the openness of games in Europe makes it easier for Arsenal to win out.

“I think Arsenal are favourites for the Champions League because it suits them more,” Richards commented on the Rest is Football.

“I think with, and we’ve made this point especially with someone like Anthony Gordon, where the Champions League is a little bit more stretched, teams have a go a little bit more.

“In the Premier League, everyone’s going to the low block.”

Arsenal’s route to the Champions League final is nothing to fear

With the Gunners drawn against Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16, many will expect them to see off the German side and progress.

From there, things look even easier – on paper anyway – with minnows Bodo Glimt or Sporting Lisbon awaiting them in the last eight.

Should Arsenal progress, it would be one of Barcelona, Newcastle, Tottenham or Atletico Madrid for a place in the final. Even though those are tough games, they’re still avoiding the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

It really does feel like this is there for Arsenal to win and if they can win out and be successful in the league as well, then Mikel Arteta has basically written his name into club history already.
