Finding another attacker remains one of Arsenal’s biggest priorities this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of forwards in recent months as Andrea Berta looks to add more firepower to a squad that won the Premier League title but fell just short in the Champions League final.
Most supporters would probably expect Arsenal to pursue one of Europe’s rising stars rather than a player available for transfer from a direct rival.
However, Michael Owen believes there is one Manchester United player who could actually improve Mikel Arteta’s squad – Marcus Rashford.
Imagine you are Andrea Berta. Who is your top target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window?
Michael Owen thinks Arsenal should consider signing Marcus Rashford
Rashford appears destined to leave Manchester United permanently after his hoped-for move to Barcelona hit a major obstacle.
That has naturally led to speculation about other potential destinations, with Arsenal among the clubs mentioned.
Owen believes the move makes more sense than many people think.
While acknowledging that Arsenal are still searching for solutions in attack, the former Liverpool striker argued that Rashford would offer something different to the options already available to Arteta.
He said, as per The Metro: “Arsenal are still sort of searching for centre forward so it gives you another option up there.

“Obviously on the left-hand side, Leandro Trossard is a very good player, and Gabriel Martinelli’s a very good player, but they aren’t quite on Rashford’s level when he’s fit and firing.
“I can’t imagine Arsenal are going to be signing too many players. I expect them just to be quite opportunistic; maybe if a great centre forward comes along or an opportunity to get somebody, then they will act.
“But I don’t think it’s the worst shout to be honest.
“I think Rashford’s first priority will be to stay at Barcelona, and I think his team will be working around the clock to try to sort that one out.
“But if that doesn’t work, then of course other teams come into the fray, and Arsenal could be a great option.”
👀 Name a better left wing signing for Arsenal than Marcus Rashford…
The England international has been linked with a move to the Emirates!
Michael Owen is right about one thing regarding Marcus Rashford
Owen’s argument is not completely without merit.
At his peak, Rashford was arguably a better footballer than both Martinelli and Trossard. There have been periods in his career when he looked capable of becoming one of the best attackers in the Premier League.
The problem is that Arsenal would not be signing him based on what he was at his best.
They would be signing a player whose performances have fluctuated wildly for years and who would almost certainly command huge wages. That is where the risk lies.
If Rashford was available for a modest fee and willing to accept a reduced salary, Arsenal could justify taking a chance. But if Manchester United want significant money and the player expects a major contract, the deal quickly becomes difficult to defend.
Arsenal need players who consistently improve the team, not players who only occasionally remind everyone how good they can be.
