Arsenal have lost a few talented young players over the years.
Indeed, Serge Gnabry has become a star since leaving Arsenal, while Ayden Heaven has earned praise since joining Manchester United from the Gunners.
However, perhaps Arsenal’s biggest academy error in recent years has involved young Mika Biereth.
The striker left Arsenal for just £4m to join Sturm Graz last summer, but since then, he’s gone to Monaco and become a star in Ligue 1.
Biereth never actually played for Arsenal, but he did enjoy some important development years at Hale End.
Speaking to Ligue 1 on TikTok, the striker has now made an interesting claim about a former Arsenal player.

Mika Biereth makes Thierry Henry claim
Biereth was asked to compare a number of Monaco players, past and present.
The striker made some interesting decisions about some iconic footballers such as Bernardo Silva, Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez.
However, perhaps his most intriguing claim focused on Thierry Henry and one of his modern-day counterparts.
Biereth was asked to choose between Henry and Kylian Mbappe, and, ultimately, he chose Henry.
Henry is an all-time great, and it is interesting to compare the Arsenal legend to Mbappe.
Thierry Henry compared to Kylian Mbappe
Biereth picked Henry over Mbappe, and while Henry is a legend, this debate is perhaps closer than many realise.
Indeed, Mbappe may only be 26 years old, but he’s a long way towards matching Henry’s incredible career record already.
| Stat | Thierry Henry | Kylian Mbappé |
| Club games (career) | 794 | 445 |
| Club goals (career) | 360 | 337 |
| International games (caps) | 123 | 91 |
| International goals | 51 | 51 |
| League titles (domestic) | 5 | 7 |
| Champions League wins | 1 | 0 |
| Champions League goals | 50 | 55 |
| World Cup goals | 6 | 12 |
| World Cup wins | 1 | 1 |
| European Championship goals | 6 | 1 |
| European Championship wins | 1 | 0 |
Mbappe has already matched Henry on the international stage, while his goalscoring record certainly stands up against the Arsenal legend.
Champions League success is the last thing Mbappe needs to tick off his to-do list, but with Real Madrid looking incredibly strong on paper, European glory could be just around the corner.
Mbappe nearly joined Arsenal as a youngster, and one can only imagine what the Gunners could have achieved if they’d signed Mbappe as a young player.
