Mikel Arteta was reportedly challenged over his decision to invite family members out to Arsenal’s mid-season training camp in Dubai.

The north London side flew out to the Middle East during their January Premier League break for warm weather training following a torrid run of form that saw Arsenal win just one of their previous seven games.

Losses to West Ham and Fulham over the festive period saw many Arsenal fans give up on the hope that the Premier League could be won, yet since returning to Dubai, the Gunners have been unstoppable.

Yet according to the Daily Mail, some figures within Arsenal were against the idea of players families being allowed to travel to Dubai for the training camp, a decision Arteta fought hard to implement.

As per the report, the decision to invite loved ones to Dubai was used as not only a way for players to spend time with their families, but also for loved ones to mingle and to form bonds to enhance the sense of togetherness.

With partners of Arsenal players now being seen watching games together, it’s safe to say that Arteta’s decision has again proven to be the correct one, with the north London side winning every Premier League match since returning from Dubai.

With Arsenal now also through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, the mid-season training camp has arguably saved the season for the Gunners, who could now go on to make history.

Family decision might have actually saved Arsenal’s season

Arteta’s ability to deal with players as both athletes and as people is well known by now, and the Arsenal managed pulled off yet another blinder this winter in Dubai.

Inviting players loved ones and families to the Middle East with the team clearly made a positive impact on the squad’s output and training in Dubai, with the results since proving that the camp was needed.

Not only have Arsenal returned to their best under Arteta, but the season has largely been saved after eight consecutive Premier League wins, with Champions League progression also huge for the Gunners.
