Arsenal are preparing to face Bournemouth in their latest Premier League clash.

Mikel Arteta’s side could clinch a top five finish in the Premier League with victory over The Cherries should either Chelsea or Nottingham Forest lose their respective fixtures.

Riccardo Calafiori and Jorginho are still missing for the clash at the Emirates Stadium but Arteta has given a positive update on Kai Havertz with the German having the chance to feature in ‘a few games’.

It opens up the possibility of Havertz potentially being involved in the Champions League run before the end of the campaign but the Gunners boss has been speaking about another forward option from the Arsenal academy.

Mikel Arteta update on Max Dowman’s Arsenal future

Speaking at his pre match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Bournemouth, Arteta was asked about his squad depth in attacking areas.

Martin Odegaard’s recent criticism has prompted questions about the Gunners options in the attacking midfield position and Arteta’s answer will excite fans.

Arteta stated: “we have Max [Dowman] coming up, very soon as well.”

The Gunners boss was then pressed about the time frame for the young star’s inclusion with the Arsenal first-team squad and his reply would indicate a bright future for Dowman.

Arteta explained: ““For the near future, yeah. I think, let’s see how this evolves, but we certainly got a big, big talent there.”

Max Dowman will follow similar Arsenal integration to Ethan Nwaneri

Dowman is in incredible form for Arsenal’s U18 side and has already trained with the first-team squad on several occasions this season.

The Hale End star will look to learn from Ethan Nwaneri’s integration into the Gunners squad, both players like to operate in the number ten role but may start out wide.

Ashley Cole has warned fans over Dowman claiming that he is too young to be over hyped just yet but you cannot blame Arsenal supporters for being excited over another incredible home-grown talent.

Pre-season could be the first opportunity for Dowman to impress in the senior side and he should look at the example that Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have set this season.
