Mikel Arteta has always drawn attention on the touchline in his time as Arsenal manager.
Mikel Arteta is an exuberant and expressive manager, who can regularly be seen barking instructions and gesticulating wildly from within, or often just outside, his technical area.
Arteta has been criticised for his touchline antics in the past, and he has calmed down somewhat of late. It is still worth keeping an eye on what the Spanish coach is getting up to during matches, though.

Mikel Arteta suffers wardrobe malfunction during Arsenal vs Man United
Legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is remembered in North London for many things.
However, amongst his long list of achievements and the enduring legacy of his transformative impact on the landscape of English football, there is also the Frenchman’s eternal battle with his own coats to recall.
Wenger was often spotted struggling with the zipper of his own winter-wear, an image that has since become a meme and reference point in the world of social media.
During Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday evening, Arteta was spotted replicating this duel between man and garment, as shared by Matt5cott on X.
One fan commented: “So Mikel did take something away from his time under Wenger.”
Another said: “He Wengered his zip! love it.”
One supporter stated: “Haha we need a side by side clip! This is brilliant!”
Arteta’s funniest moments as Arsenal manager
This is not the only time that Arteta has been the cause of amusement in his time in charge of Arsenal.
Back in March 2023, Arteta tried to rebrand substitutes as “impactors” in a doomed attempt to raise the spirits of those players stuck on the bench. It didn’t catch on.
In February of the same year, as reported by The Express, the 42-year-old was caught mocking referee Simon Hooper.
After the official ordered the Gunners to retake a set-piece after trying to play on whilst the ball was still in motion, Arteta decided to make his feelings clear by performing a heavily sarcastic mime of a rolling ball.
Earlier this year, Arsenal fans branded Arteta “insane” after he attempted to teach his players a lesson by hiring a team of pickpockets to swipe their personal belongings from them during a meal. The idea was to impress upon the squad the importance of remaining aware and alert at all times.
