Mikel Arteta has now confirmed Arsenal’s stance on signing Kylian Mbappe, with the Arsenal manager revealing the Gunners have to be in the conversation.

News broke this week that the PSG superstar will be leaving the reigning French champions at the end of his contract this summer, with Real Madrid the most likely destination for Mbappe.

Despite how strong Los Blancos’ interest in the French international is, Arsenal are reportedly in the race to sign Mbappe, with the forward seemingly open to a move to north London.

Speaking to the press, Arteta confirmed that Arsenal will be in conversation to sign Mbappe, though the Basque coach acknowledged that it would be a hard deal to pull off.

Mbappe is one of the best-paid athletes on the planet with Arsenal spending the last few years sorting out their wage structure after years of poor transfers and hefty contracts to the wrong players.

Yet even with all that in mind, the prospect of signing Mbappe might be too great to turn down, with a world-class striker exactly what Arsenal are looking for in the summer.

Arteta said when asked about signing Mbappe: “Why not? If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent & the best players.

“I am not involved. Maybe Edu and the owners are, I’m not in those conversations until the last stage”.

Hope is the one thing that can truly kill an Arsenal fan, and supporters are now gearing up to once again be let down in the transfer market via Mbappe.

We all know where the 25-year-old attacker is heading, with Madrid the only club Mbappe has had his mind on ever since joining PSG as a teenager back in 2017.

Whilst a move to Arsenal to become the true successor to Thierry Henry would be a dream, the odds of such a move happening remain close to zero.

And as a result, Madrid will be doing Arsenal fans and the football world a favour by signing Mbappe as soon as possible, with this saga going on for far too long already.
