Bukayo Saka was on top form on Saturday as Arsenal recorded a 2-0 win over Wolves in their Premier League opener.
Bukayo Saka stole the show for Arsenal against Wolves. The Hale End academy graduate registered a goal and an assist against the Midlands outfit at the Emirates Stadium to ensure that Mikel Arteta’s side made a winning start to the new Premier League campaign.
Arsenal fans were wowed by Saka, who looks to have gone up another level since last season. He plays with such maturity, and handles the pressure of being the Gunners’ talismanic attacker with such grace that it is hard to believe that he is still just 22-years-old.
The England international will be Arsenal’s key player this season. If the Gunners are to achieve their Premier League title dream, they will need him fit and firing on all cylinders throughout the season. He has certainly made a strong start.
Saturday was also an emotional day in North London. Arsenal icon Kevin Campbell passed away in June, aged just 54, and he was remembered this weekend.

Bukayo Saka draws level with Arsenal legend Kevin Campbell
Arsenal paid tributes to Campbell throughout their clash with Wolves, and the former striker’s family were also present as guests at the Emirates Stadium for the match.
It felt fitting, then, that Saka struck his 59th Arsenal goal in this game, drawing level with the tally that Campbell himself racked up for the Gunners in his own playing career.
When asked to comment on this after the match, Arteta described Saka’s goal, and it’s connection with the tributes to Campbell, as: “A beautiful moment. I think what we lived out there, the appreciation, respect, love that we showed towards him and his family was a great moment.”
Saka chasing Arsenal legend status
What Saka has already achieved in his relatively short career is nothing short of remarkable. If he maintains his current trajectory, and stays at the club, then he will go down as one of Arsenal’s all-time greats, and perhaps even the greatest of all.
The winger, who is one of the North London club’s own academy products, has already amassed 227 first team appearances for the club and is the face of Arteta’s project.
