Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu is injured again.

The Japan international missed the first three months of the campaign due to an injury. He made his long-awaited return in the game against Southampton, playing the final six minutes.

Sadly, he injured himself again in that game, and Arteta revealed that Tomiyasu will face another spell on the sidelines now.

Arsenal fans are really disappointed with Tomiyasu’s injury, but Arteta and the club are doing everything they can to help end his fitness woes.

What Arsenal have done to help end Takehiro Tomiyasu’s injury problems

Since joining Arsenal in 2021, Tomiyasu has missed over 60 games for club and country.

That is a really poor record, and what makes it even more of a shame is the fact that Tomiyasu is a brilliant player when he is fit. He provides so many options for Arteta.

With the Japan international out for so long, the load on Ben White has been massive and has played a part in him getting injured now as well.

Jurrien Timber missed almost all of last season, so asking him to play every single minute at right-back in the coming weeks would be a massive risk.

Arsenal need Tomiyasu back as soon as possible, and Arteta has revealed his plan – the Gunners are sending the defender away for a few weeks so that he has a change in environment.

The hope is that this will help Tomiyasu put an end to his injury woes.

Arteta said in his press conference, as per Arsenal.com: “He’s going to be away now for a few weeks for him to continue with his training and to change his environment a little bit because it’s been really tough for him, as you can imagine.

“He’s one of the guys where the only thing he wants to do is to work 24 hours to get better and he feels terrible when he’s not fit, so it’s a real shame.

“We’re going to give him the best opportunity to try and unlock something to help him to have him back as quickly as possible, but I think we need to be patient.”

Tomiyasu’s problems could open the door for Arsenal’s Hale End gem

Arsenal have found themselves in a difficult position at right-back.

Both White and Tomiyasu are ruled out for the foreseeable future, which means Timber is the only senior natural right-back available at the club.

Thomas Partey will likely act as a backup in that role, but we think young Josh Nichols could get opportunities at Arsenal in the coming weeks.

The teenager was a part of the club’s pre-season tour and has already made his senior debut – an impressive performance against Bolton in the EFL Cup.

With White and Tomiyasu out, we won’t be surprised if Nichols gets some minutes with the first team in the upcoming busy schedule.
