Myles Lewis-Skelly is one of Arsenal’s most talented young players.

Hale End has produced many truly exceptional talents over the years. Bukayo Saka is the most popular of them all, but there have been many others.

What’s very exciting if you’re a Gooner is the fact that there are more excellent young players coming through the Arsenal academy now who could soon get opportunities in the first team.

Lewis-Skelly made his debut against Manchester City in the Premier League, and Mikel Arteta has confirmed now that he will get plenty more opportunities in the coming months.

Mikel Arteta delivers verdict on Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly

Arsenal take on Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The Gunners had three very difficult fixtures away from home last week. They beat Tottenham Hotspur in their first clash but then had to settle for two draws against Atalanta and Manchester City.

Arteta is expected to make quite a few changes to his side for the game against Bolton, and a few Arsenal academy players could get an opportunity.

Lewis-Skelly is one of them, and after the teenager’s impressive performances in the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, he is more than ready.

Arteta was asked about Lewis-Skelly in his press conference on Tuesday, and the Spaniard had nothing but praise for the youngster.

The Arsenal boss hailed a number of Lewi-Skelly’s traits, including the fact that he asks ‘unbelievable’ questions every time he’s told to do something in training.

Arteta said, as relayed on HaytersTV: “He can play in three positions – basically as a left-back, he plays as six and as an eight. He is very versatile, he adapts from where he can occupy different spaces.

“He is very adaptable, I think that’s the good thing about Myles. He is very intelligent, very thorough, he asks some unbelievable questions every time you ask him to do something and he has a competitive edge that I think is demanded at this level.

“And he really wants it. So, we’re going to use him in different positions.”

When asked about Lewis-Skelly showing no fear against Erling Haaland, Arteta added: “He’s a competitor. You look at him – in every duel, he goes, the way he reacts with his teammates here, you speak to him, there’s constant eye contact. He’s nudging, he’s asking questions, he’s a special character.”

When Myles Lewis-Skelly could make his full Arsenal debut

As we mentioned earlier, Lewis-Skelly made his first-ever appearance for Arsenal’s senior side against Manchester City at the Etihad. He came on as a substitute.

The teenager did a decent job against the champions, but the context of the game meant he just couldn’t showcase his abilities.

That could change when he makes his full debut – we think it could happen on Wednesday night when Bolton come to the Emirates in the Carabao Cup.

Lewis-Skelly is expected to start at left-back against the Wanderers, and we are excited to see how he will fare if he does get the nod.
