Arsenal are living through one of the greatest periods in the club’s history.

Mikel Arteta has already ended the Gunners’ 22-year wait for a Premier League title and now has the chance to deliver the one trophy that has always eluded Arsenal.

The Champions League final against PSG is just around the corner, and there is a growing sense that this could be a truly historic season for the football club.

Many Arsenal legends have privately congratulated Arteta and his players, but one man has remained noticeably quiet – Arsene Wenger.

Mikel Arteta explains why Arsene Wenger has not contacted him after Arsenal’s title win

Wenger’s influence can still be felt throughout Arsenal today.

The Frenchman transformed the club during his 22 years in charge and established standards that every manager who followed him has tried to match.

Arteta has now ended the club’s long Premier League title drought. If Arsenal beat PSG this weekend, he will also deliver the Champions League trophy that Wenger spent his entire career chasing.

With that in mind, many expected Wenger to have reached out personally after Arsenal became champions. However, Arteta has revealed that has not happened.

The Arsenal manager believes that it is simply because Wenger does not want to become a distraction during such an important period.

Arteta said, as per the club’s official website: “No, not directly because you know how Arsene is and he doesn’t want to be in the way, but I know how we all feel.

“I spoke to a lot of ex-players who have been in this position as well, and they are rooting for us.

“It’s an opportunity for us as a club to write something new that we’ve never done, so that’s what we want to do.”

Arsene Wenger has avoided the mistake Sir Alex Ferguson made at Manchester United

One of the biggest problems Manchester United faced after Sir Alex Ferguson retired was his enormous presence around the club.

Every manager who followed him had to operate under the shadow of arguably the greatest coach in football history.

Whether intentional or not, Ferguson’s continued influence often became part of the conversation whenever things went wrong at Old Trafford.

Wenger has taken a completely different approach at Arsenal.

Rather than inserting himself into the spotlight, he has allowed Arteta to build his own legacy and create his own era without interference.

That deserves huge credit because Arsenal are now thriving under Arteta, and Wenger’s willingness to step aside has played a part in allowing that to happen.
