Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta says he is worried about Gabriel Jesus’ injury

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus really has had a stop-start campaign.

The Brazilian looked incredible in pre-season, but he suffered a problem that needed surgery. He missed the start of the campaign as a result, and it has taken him a while to get back to his best.

After an impressive performance against Manchester City on the right, Jesus was given a go in his natural position against Chelsea. He struggled in that game, but things were different last night.

Jesus was the best player on the pitch when Arsenal took on Sevilla in the Champions League. He picked up a brilliant assist and scored a stunner to help us win the game.

However, soon after, Jesus suffered a hamstring injury, and Mikel Arteta seemed concerned after the final whistle.

When asked about Jesus’ performance, the Arsenal boss said in his press conference: “Really happy with that part.

“Big games for big players, and he needed to produce those moments to win in stadiums like this. He’s done it, and obviously, he opened the game for us in a great way.

“And then, we’re really sad because he felt something in his hamstring, and he had to come off and I’m worried about that.”

Jesus has played down concerns

While Arteta was speaking to the media after the game, Jesus was in front of the cameras too, and his assessment of the injury doesn’t seem as serious.

The 26-year-old Brazil international looked in good spirits. He claimed that he did a few tests with Arsenal’s physios and is sure that his injury is not too serious.

However, he is due for a scan in London today, and that will reveal the true extent of his injury. Hamstring issues are always a concern.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Jesus, but we really hope it’s just a knock and he’ll be back when we take on Sheffield United this weekend.
