Mikel Arteta has helped a number of players improve at Arsenal over the years.
It’s sometimes hard to believe that this is the Spaniard’s first-ever job as a manager. He has done such a good job at the Emirates since he took charge of the club in 2019.
Arsenal now have one of the best squads in the world, and they are challenging for every trophy that’s up for grabs. That’s all down to the work Arteta has done.
Many of the Arsenal manager’s transfers have been questioned over the years. One of them has proven everyone wrong over the last 10 months.
Mikel Arteta explains ‘change’ in Kai Havertz’s mindset at Arsenal
Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
The decision to sign the German raised a lot of eyebrows. Not many people understood why Arteta spent so much money on someone who didn’t quite live up to the expectations at Stamford Bridge.
A lot of people mocked Havertz at the start of his Arsenal career, but he has now become one of the best players in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old is one of the first names on the team sheet every week, and Havertz is on track to score around 30 goals this season if he continues at the same rate.
That is something nobody would’ve expected at the start of the season, but Arteta believes Havertz definitely has the ability to score 20-odd goals a campaign.
The Arsenal manager believes there has been a change in Havertz’s mindset that could enable him to make this his best-ever goalscoring season.
When asked if Havertz can score over 20 goals this season, Arteta said, as per Arsenal.com: “He certainly has all the qualities and he certainly has the ambition to do that.
“In the end, scoring goals sometimes are very small details and a lot of things have to go for you, but he’s got it and his mindset has changed a lot in regards to that.
“He certainly has the ability to do it, in my opinion.”

What Havertz needs to do to score 20 goals this season
A 20-goal season looks very achievable for Havertz right now.
The German has already scored five goals in nine appearances for Arsenal this term. He averages a goal every 149.6 minutes, which is not a bad return at all.
Havertz played 51 games in all competitions last season, and the expectation is that he will feature in a similar number of fixtures this time around as well.
That means, all Havertz needs to do in the next 42 games is score 15 goals, which is a goal every 252 minutes. That will get him to 20 in all competitions this term.
We think Havertz will get there!
