Mikel Arteta should be so worried about what Paul Scholes has just said about Max Dowman at Arsenal

Paul Scholes believes that Max Dowman is the ‘only shining light’ at Arsenal right now, which is so worrying for the Gunners’ title hopes.

Arsenal are facing a massive final few weeks of the season, with the Premier League and Champions League still on the line.

However, back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Southampton will have knocked confidence somewhat and exposed the weaknesses in this Arsenal team.

Now, Dowman looks like Arsenal’s best player, which is simply unacceptable given his age and what the Gunners are fighting for in the league.

Paul Scholes on Max Dowman being Arsenal’s ‘only shining light’

Paul Scholes claims that Max Dowman is Arsenal’s ‘only shining light’ at the moment and has questioned the quality of Mikel Arteta’s team.

The former Manchester United star has not been impressed by the quality of the Gunners’ football, but thinks they now have a big buffer in the title race.

Scholes told The Good, The Bad & The Football: “The only shining light, really, is the young kid at this point. We’ve said all, like I’ve said it all season, I don’t think it’s a great team anyway.

“I don’t think the football they’ve played has been that great to watch, but they’ve got a big buffer in the league, of course.”

16-year-old Max Dowman was Arsenal’s best player vs Southampton. Is that good news or should the other players be embarrassed?

Rio Ferdinand also thinks Dowman is Arsenal’s best player and is backing him to play a key role in getting the title over the line.

He said: “Max Dowman could be the biggest factor in Arsenal winning the league from this point on.”

Max Dowman as Arsenal’s best player is unacceptable

There is absolutely no denying the teenager’s quality; however, Dowman being Arsenal’s best player is unacceptable.

He is just 16 years old, and being the best player for the team that is top of the league is a real worry for the quality of the Premier League.

Dowman is a joy to watch, but where are the other Arsenal attackers stepping up? Why do they not have the quality to be better than a teenager?

Arteta cannot afford for his attackers to keep slacking like they have done over recent weeks and needs them to step up.

Right now, it’s hard for Arteta not to start Dowman in all the big games, especially with Bukayo Saka out injured.
