Former England captain Steph Houghton has praised Mikel Arteta for getting the best out of Kai Havertz since his move to Arsenal.
The £65m signing from Chelsea last summer was one of the most surprising deals of the window, with Arsenal breaking the bank to recruit Havertz despite the German international having a mixed spell in west London.
After an unconvincing start with the Gunners, Havertz has since burst into life with Arsenal, with the versatile forward scoring in the last four games to help Arteta’s side go top of the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta praised for bringing ‘the best’ out of Kai Havertz

And speaking on Football Daily, Manchester City defender Houghton has praised Arteta for getting the best out of Havertz since his move to the Emirates Stadium, something Chelsea, arguably, failed to do.
Houghton said on Havertz’s recent form for Arsenal: “In terms of the false-nine position, I don’t think his strengths are playing with his back to goal.
“As a footballer, you need rhythm and that reputation of playing the same type of passes, and for him, he’s so good at coming onto the ball and making late runs.
“He’s always in-between the lines, and I do feel like Arteta has brought the best out of him, and that might be because of his maturity, he seems to have settled in a position this season.”
Arsenal could now have a new superstar on their hands in Kai Havertz

Havertz’s transformation in such a small space of time has been a joy to watch for us Arsenal fans, with Arteta again being proven right over a questionable decision in the transfer market.
And there’s cause for belief that the north London side now have another superstar in the making in Havertz, who has carved out a goalscoring niche for himself in this Arsenal squad.
Which his scoring run won’t last forever, Havertz has come up big on numerous occasions this season, and the Germany international could push the narrative in more directions for Arsenal in the weeks to come.
