Championship club Norwich City are reportedly interested in hiring Arsenal coach Carlos Cuesta as their new first-team manager this summer.

The 28-year-old is regarded as one of the best prodigies in the coaching world having played a key role at Arsenal as one of Mikel Arteta’s most trusted advisors on the touchline and on the training pitch.

A coach who was working for Atletico Madrid at just 18-years-old, Cuesta’s talents have taken the Majorca-born tactician to Juventus and now Arsenal, and a first big role could now be on the horizon.

According to the Guardian, Norwich are interested in appointing Cuesta at the end of the season, with current manager David Wagner yet to really get the Canaries going despite his reputation.

As per the report, Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper, previously Arsenal’s loans manager is the figure driving this interest, with Cuesta believed to be open to working with his former co-worker.

Indeed, with Cuesta working wonders at Arsenal in the last four years alongside Arteta as one of his ‘closest’ assistants, it’s perhaps no real surprise why the Spanish coach is now being linked with a move into a top role

And whilst losing Cuesta will be a painful pill to swallow, there’s now denying that the 28-year-old moving on is an incredible achievement and a testament to the coach’s qualities in football.

The world of coaching is changing every year in football, with new ideas and philosophies being created and tested on what now feels like a weekly basis.

And for Cuesta, it seems almost impossible to imagine the Arsenal coach not making a massive impact on the world of tactics and innovation in football, such is the 28-year-old’s potential.

However, this could only happen if Cuesta decides to leave Arsenal to take on a first-team role elsewhere, with Norwich now a likely destination for the Spaniard.

It will be painful to see one of Arteta’s most trusted assistants leave, yet given Cuesta’s potential, it’s something that might be better off happening sooner rather than later.
