Mohamed Salah’s latest Liverpool contract comments may actually help Arsenal in the Premier League title race

Arsenal are chasing after Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title this season, with the Reds currently leading the way.

It comes after a difficult month for Mikel Arteta, where he has seen the Gunners drop points on multiple occasions, but Arsenal’s win over Nottingham Forest last time out shows there is still some hope.

With 26 games still to go, there’s plenty of time for twists and turns in the race, even with a nine-point gap developing.

Arsenal will need a bit of luck to go their way but it hardly seems like a Premier League campaign where 100 points will be needed to win the division.

While Arne Slot’s start to life at Liverpool may seem fine now, it’s not out of the question that the boat could be rocked in the weeks ahead.

Mohamed Salah’s contract claim may impact Liverpool

While Anfield has been filled with joy in the early weeks of the season, any small twist could impact Liverpool going forward.

The Reds have a huge week ahead that includes a trip to Real Madrid in the Champions League before taking on Manchester City in the Premier League.

The last thing that anyone at the club may want before that period is a player coming out and questioning his future.

Well that’s exactly what star player Mohamed Salah did in the mixed zone after his side’s dramatic 3-2 win over Southampton.

The winger said, via The Athletic: “Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in.

“I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League. I’m disappointed but we will see.”

When asked if he wants to stay, Salah added: “I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. I love the fans. The fans love me.

“It is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and the club.”

It’s clear that Salah is putting pressure on the Liverpool hierarchy during a tougher part of the season, though how well that goes down internally remains to be seen.

Not least when there are also contract questions over Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold too – another two players from the leadership group.

Should that impact Liverpool, it could show on the pitch and open up a way for Arsenal to make up the ground they’ve lost early on.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City fixtures compared

The upcoming run of fixtures in the Premier League paints an interesting picture for Arsenal – one that suggests they could get back in the title race.

While all of their next five could produce some difficult encounters, there is plenty of potential to grab maximum points in the weeks ahead.

Compare that to Liverpool – who face rivalries and some tough fixtures – and Manchester City in their current rut and there’s a clear chance ahead.

Here’s how Liverpool’s upcoming run looks:

If Arsenal can keep themselves steady and free of distractions, then they will certainly make up some ground in the weeks ahead.
