Arsenal have had some brilliant attacking players in recent years.
Indeed, Bukayo Saka is a world-class player these days, while Noni Madueke is showing his abilities this season too.
If you go even further back, the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexis Sanchez were electric for the Gunners too.
Meanwhile, sadly, there were some attackers who weren’t quite as effective for Arsenal.
Willian joined Arsenal back in 2020 with a view to becoming a star under Mikel Arteta, but, sadly, things didn’t quite go to plan for the winger.
At his best, Willian was an amazing player, but, for one reason or another, his sole season at Arsenal was rather poor.
However, speaking to the Premier League, Moises Caicedo has shared some quite big praise for his fellow South American.

Moises Caicedo picks Willian over Alexis Sanchez
Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo was taking part in a challenge where he had to rate and compare some of the greatest South Americans to play in the Premier League.
There’s been a whole host of incredible South American talent in the Premier League over the years, and according to Caicedo, Willian is among the best of the bunch.
Who is the best South American to play for Arsenal, and why?
Is anyone beating Alexis Sanchez?
Indeed, Caicedo picked Willian over the likes of Roberto Firmino, Fernandinho and even Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
Sadly, Arsenal didn’t quite see that side of Willian, and he was released by the Gunners after just one season.
Willian would eventually return to the Premier League with Fulham, where he would recapture some of his best form, but, it has to be said, his Arsenal spell was an abject failure.
Willian stats for Arsenal compared to Alexis Sanchez
Of course, any Arsenal fan would deem it laughable that Willian could be compared to Alexis Sanchez based purely on their spells at Arsenal.
Indeed, the stats show that these players were very much on different levels during their times in north London.
| Stats for Arsenal | Willian | Alexis Sanchez |
| Games | 37 | 166 |
| Goals | 1 | 80 |
| Assists | 7 | 44 |
However, it must be noted that Willian was exceptional during his time at Chelsea and he was also fantastic for Fulham, so that Arsenal spell was just a minor blip in what was a brilliant Premier League career.
Whether or not Willian is better than Sanchez is certainly up for debate, but, as Caicedo says, there’s certainly an argument to be made.
