Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly is so mature for his age.
The Englishman is still only 18, but the way he adapted to the senior game last season — both physically and mentally — was just remarkable.
Lewis-Skelly came up against massive stars and wasn’t fazed at all. He was fearless in games against the top sides and performed exceptionally well.
The teenager is not just that confident on the pitch; he is the same off it, too. But, he was awestruck when he met one Gunners icon last season.
Myles Lewis-Skelly says he was in ‘awe’ when he met Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger is the greatest manager Arsenal have ever had.
The legendary Frenchman spent over two decades at the club, and he is the biggest reason why the Gunners are such a big brand across the globe today.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was only 11 when Wenger announced that he would leave Arsenal in 2018, but he knows all about the latter’s aura.
Having been at the club since he was a kid, Lewis-Skelly would’ve heard everything that Wenger did for the club, and that must have stayed in his mind.
That is why the youngster was amazed when he finally got the chance to meet Wenger at Arsenal last season.
In a video with Dazed, Lewis-Skelly was asked when was the last time he was starstruck.
He replied: “I don’t think I’ve ever been starstruck, but I’ve definitely been in awe when I met Arsene Wenger.”
Arsene Wenger loves what Arsenal have done with Myles Lewis-Skelly and other youngsters
Wenger was always a big advocate of giving young players an opportunity.
The Frenchman did that throughout his time as the manager of Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta has followed in his footsteps by integrating multiple academy stars into the first team.
Wenger absolutely loves that.
“I find that’s part of the DNA of the club,” said Wenger in an interview with the ECA. “I’m happy that these values continue, and I think the academy is doing a fantastic job because one year is very exciting.
“I don’t speak about Saka because he’s a world-class player, and Lewis-Skelly, now coming out (of the academy), is already in the English national team, so I love that.
“And you know I’m very happy that this integration of top-level players at a young age is happening at Arsenal.”
