New footage has emerged showing the angry bust-up between Arsenal coach Nicolas Jover and Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker after the Gunners’ win last Sunday.
A deflected goal by half-time substitute Gabriel Martinelli (86’) off Nathan Ake’s face handed Arsenal the win over Manchester City. It marked a long-sought result for the Gunners having lost their past 12 Premier League meetings with the Citizens. They had zero wins since 2015.
The result also moved Arsenal above Manchester City to share the top spot with Tottenham Hotspur at the international break. But disorder erupted on the touchline following the full-time whistle as Walker reacted angrily toward Jover as the 33-year-old walked to the tunnel.

Why did Walker react angrily toward Jover after Arsenal 1-0 Man City?
Walker reacted angrily to Jover offering a handshake at the entrance to the tunnel following Arsenal ensuring Manchester City lost in successive Premier League fixtures for the first time since 2018. It was a petulant reaction by Walker toward ex-Etihad Stadium colleague, Jover.
Jover left Manchester City to join Arsenal’s coaching staff under Pep Guardiola’s former No2, Mikel Arteta, in July 2021. He spent two years with the Citizens and the Manchester Evening News reports left with good relations. Man City also had no issue with him following Arteta.
Instead, Walker’s frustrations were born out of Jover refusing to shake any Manchester City player’s hand after beating Arsenal home and away last season. He disappointed many with the decision. So, Walker sought to confront Jover over his apparent hypocrisy come Sunday.
New footage emerges of the touchline spat at Emirates Stadium

Walker saw it as his responsibility as Manchester City’s captain to confront Jover when the Arsenal coach offered a handshake. But former Gunners forward Theo Walcott felt it was a case of ‘a nerves been hit’ when Sky Sports broadcasted footage of the incident on Sunday.
Walcott helped Arsenal to their previous Premier League win over Manchester City back in 2015. He and Olivier Giroud scored before Yaya Toure’s late reply to hand Arsene Wenger’s side a 2-1 win. Arteta will hope Arsenal do not have to wait another 16 games to win again.
