Arsenal went through a period of nine years without a trophy between 2005 and 2014 under former boss Arsene Wenger.
During that spell, Wenger’s side came close to winning the Premier League on a couple of occasions and lost in the League Cup final to Birmingham City at Wembley.
It was a frustrating time for Arsenal and often had to sell their best players such as the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie in order to help pay the debts of the move to the Emirates Stadium.
One player that got an opportunity to shine during that period was Nicklas Bendtner and he once revealed the reason behind an explosive rant as his former Gunners boss.

Nicklas Bendtner’s explosive rant at Arsene Wenger
As per The Mirror, Bendtner opened up to Four Four Two magazine back in January 2021 about his relationship with his former manager.
Bendtner stated: “We respected each other and had very good meetings – we were honest with each other.”
However, things did get heated in the summer of 2013 when Wenger refused to allow Bendtner the opportunity to move to a fellow Premier League side.
Bendtner explained: “But at that moment [in the summer of 2013], I wanted to leave Arsenal and Crystal Palace had made a great offer for me. Wenger phoned and said, ‘Sorry, you can’t go.’
“That felt like a massive blow to me, as I’d been waiting all week to leave. I called Arsene a w—– and an a—— so he would have to sell me, but it didn’t work.”
Nicklas Bendtner’s Arsenal career
Bendtner made history during his time at Arsenal in 2007 by becoming the fastest player to score as a substitute (1.8 seconds) when he headed home the winner in the North London derby.
He was known for his bizarre antics away from football and Bendtner once had a ‘legendary’ clause inserted into his contract at FC Copenhagen forbidding him from going skiiing.

The Danish international eventually departed the Gunners for German side Wolfsburg in the summer of 2014 before retiring in January 2020.
There was never a dull moment when Bendtner was around but he was also a wonderfully-gifted footballer that brought some great moments to Arsenal fans.
