Arsenal are competing in the Premier League title race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool, and there could be a very close ending.
Each side has nine games remaining this season, and all three teams have now played each other twice, following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw at Manchester City.
Liverpool are two points ahead of Arsenal, who are one clear of City, in what could become one of the closest three-way title races in Premier League history.
Arsenal did challenge Manchester City for the title last season, but after leading the way for most of the campaign, they collapsed in the final few months, but now hope that they have learned a valuable lesson.
Nigel Winterburn shares why Arsenal may fall short in title race
Speaking to Football365, former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn claimed that he could see Arsenal falling just short of the title this time, despite being well-set for the future.
“While I obviously hope Arsenal come out on top, it might be that they have to wait another year to get over the winning line in the title race,” he stated.
“I get the impression that people don’t believe Arsenal can win it after what happened at the end of last season, when the team fell away in the final few weeks and Man City came through to win it again.
Nigel Winterburn praises Arsenal improvement since last season

Winterburn has clearly highlighted Arsenal’s collapse last season as a reason why many believe they may not maintain their current pace, but he did highlight how Mikel Arteta’s side have improved since.
“From an Arsenal perspective, I’m highly delighted with the way the team have bounced back from the disappointing end to last season,” he added.
“I said at the start of this season that if they are back in a position to challenge for the title in April, this team will have learned a lot and I don’t expect us to fall away like we did a year ago.
“Whether it happens this season or not, this looks like the team that will eventually end Arsenal’s long wait to win the Premier League title again.”
Arsenal have both the best attack and the best defence in the Premier League, which has meant they have the best goal difference. In such a tight race, these margins may matter a lot, and the Gunners are well prepared for the run-in, but do face some tough fixtures which could prevent them from staying at the top.
