Noni Madueke says something ‘amazes’ him about Max Dowman, it’s not his quality

Max Dowman is the talk of the town after the 15-year-old made his Premier League debut for Arsenal.

Dowman has already been compared to Lionel Messi, which says everything that needs to be known about the quality within Arsenal’s academy.

Mikel Arteta is eager to be patient with the 15-year-old’s development, but having seen what Dowman did in pre-season, it’s difficult to contain his brilliance.

When Arsenal were 4-0 up against Leeds United, Arteta deemed it appropriate to hand the Hale End product his Premier League debut…and he was sure to impress.

For the third time since pre-season began, Dowman won Arsenal a penalty with his pace, power and skill inside the box.

Though before it had happened in a non-competitive environment, the teen did it in the Premier League, letting the world know that he’s ready to compete in the first team.

The Arsenal squad are supporting Dowman on his journey to senior football, with one member of the team speaking about the rising star after the win over Leeds.

As featured on BBC’s 606 Football Phone In, Noni Madueke shared his verdict on Dowman, admitting that something other than his quality has left him spellbound. 

“Max is a special player, but also his personality is what amazes me,” Madueke explained.

“I feel like to be so young and have no real fear, you know, to be fearless, I think it’s a testament to him. Sky’s the limit for him, obviously.”

Many Arsenal players reacted to Dowman’s Premier League debut, with the picture being painted to portray the emphatic talent the Gunners have on their hands.

However, as Madueke made clear, it’s not simply the 15-year-old’s talent that is blowing people away, as the confidence and belief the teen has is something that will truly take him to the top.

Dowman plays like a schoolboy with the ability of a seasoned senior player.

The freedom, joy and expression that the forward plays with is what makes him so exciting.

Against Leeds, Dowman showed what Madueke was talking about, presenting a fearless edge to the Premier League, wreaking havoc on the right side to Arteta’s joy.

It was a spectacular debut from Dowman, but one that won’t even surprise fans, as what’s already been seen from the 2009-born ace completely justifies his rise.
