‘Not enough’: Aubameyang sends Twitter message to Arsenal teammates

Another game, another good start to the second half and another silly mistake. That sums up Arsenal’s season so far, and Mikel Arteta will be pulling his hair out after seeing some of our actions on the pitch.

A momentary lapse of concentration saw Gabriel leave a huge gap at the back in the first half. Theo Walcott took advantage of that and scored a beautiful goal to give Southampton the lead.

Arsenal recovered well. We dominated the possession and created a few chances to score. Nicolas Pepe was arguably unlucky to not grab the equaliser in the first half but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made no mistake when the chance fell to his feet.

We were clearly on top at that point. If we had continued playing the same way, we would have gone on to win the game, but a silly foul by Gabriel earned him a second yellow card, and he was off.

That changed the game completely. The Saints were back on top and looked likelier to score. Nathan Redmond came close a couple of time, but the best chance of the game fell to Rob Holding a few moments before the final whistle. Sadly, the Englishman could only rattle the bar.

Auba: That was not enough

All things considered, a point was a good result for us. Aubameyang is back on the score sheet and his confidence will be high. The Arsenal skipper, however, claimed that the performance and the result were not enough and urged his teammates to work harder.

Arsenal’s recent results have received a lot of criticism. Aubameyang’s leadership has been questioned several times over the last few weeks, and some people have even called for a change in captaincy to get us out of the hole we are in.

However, Aubameyang stepped up yesterday. He was vocal throughout the game, and it was his goal that salvaged the point.

His message on Twitter is quite clear – a draw is not good enough irrespective of the circumstances. Arsenal will have to be at their absolute best to get a win against Everton on Saturday and once again, Aubameyang will be our most important player.
