Arsenal progressed to the final four of the EFL Cup with a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace.
While Palace took the lead early courtesy of a Jakub Kiwior error, the Gunners fought back to move forward in the EFL Cup.
Gabriel Jesus was the star of the show against the Eagles, scoring a hat-trick to announce the start of a possible resurgence in N5.
Mikel Arteta plans to utilise Jesus more after his five-star showing, with the forward’s form coming just in time to potentially haunt Palace again.

Oliver Glasner shares Arsenal verdict after EFL Cup win
While Jesus shone, Arsenal still weren’t able to make the occasion a comfortable one, allowing Palace to score twice at the Emirates.
Eddie Nketiah scored on his Arsenal return late on, applying pressure in the latter stages before the full-time whistle was blown.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner spoke highly of his side’s performance after the game but insisted that ‘Arsenal were the better team’.
“The players tried everything. Even when we were 1-3 down, we came back. And at the end, maybe with a lucky goal from a set play or something, we would have gone into the penalty shoot-out. I think today we have to accept that Arsenal were the better team.”
The manager went on to explain what made the game difficult for his players, which could give Arteta something to consider ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.
“We knew with all their quality that they could score a goal. We gave them too many chances because we were too passive. They were too long in our final third,” the Austrian said.
“I know it’s not too easy because they moved the ball quite quickly, but this is what we have to improve on Saturday, and then it’s possible [to win].”
Glasner made it clear that Arsenal’s pace on the ball made things difficult for Palace, which should now be in Arteta’s mind ahead of the weekend’s meeting.
Arsenal’s record at Selhurst Park
Having overcome Palace in the cup, the focus now turns to the must-win Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.
The trip to south London hasn’t always boded well for the Gunners however, Arteta has won three of his previous five trips to Selhurst in the league.
| Season | Scoreline | Result |
| 2019/20 | 1-1 | Draw |
| 2020/21 | 1-3 | Win |
| 2021/22 | 3-0 | Loss |
| 2022/23 | 0-2 | Win |
| 2023/24 | 0-1 | Win |
Last season’s game was a 1-0 win courtesy of a Martin Odegaard penalty in a hard-fought fixture, suggesting that improvement in recent league performances is required before Saturday’s meeting.
Arsenal travel to Selhurst having not scored from open play in their previous three Premier League games, while Palace are unbeaten in their last five.
Arteta needs to get his side in order to claim three points on week 17 and Glasner might have hinted how the Spaniard can achieve his goal.
