Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz has a higher estimated transfer value than Kylian Mbappe.

Arsenal paid £65 million to prise Kai Havertz away from Chelsea in the recent summer transfer window.

The German endured a difficult start to life at Arsenal, coming in for plenty of criticism as he struggled to find his feet at the Emirates Stadium.

Havertz arrived in north London looking short on confidence. He also needed time to adapt to Mikel Arteta’s tactical demands. The Spanish coach has regularly deployed the 24-year-old as an attacking midfielder, despite the fact he was used as a striker in his time at Stamford Bridge.

In recent weeks, though, something seems to have clicked into place for Havertz. He has looked like a player transformed, playing with confidence, battling fiercely in the middle of the park and chipping in with vital goals.

It will be a huge boost for the Gunners if Havertz can maintain this kind of form for the rest of the campaign. There have never been any doubts about his talent. He is supremely technically gifted. He also has useful physical attributes, as he is deceptively fast and strong according to teammate Jorginho, and is also a real aerial threat at 6’4”.

How much is Arsenal star Kai Havertz worth?

According to the latest figures from Football Observatory, Havertz has an estimated transfer value of £92.2 million. This ranks him just ahead of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, who has been credited with a current transfer worth of £91.6 million.

Of course, Mbappe’s estimated transfer value at this time will be largely influenced by his contractual situation at PSG. As things stand, the French World Cup winner is due to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign, with Arsenal amongst the clubs credited with an interest in snapping him up at that time.

Despite this justification, it will still come as a surprise to many to see Havertz valued quite so highly. His worth is even considered greater than some of Arsenal’s other top performers, including William Saliba and Declan Rice.

The challenge for Havertz now is to build on his recent progress and live up to that valuation. If he can do that, then the price Arsenal paid to secure his services from their London rivals will soon come to look like something of a bargain. Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping that that turns out to be the case.
