According to report Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to quit the club in the summer. Chamberlain apparently feels he has become stale and needs to reignite his career elsewhere. Add to that his limited starts and lack of contract talks it seems he could be one of many leaving come the end of the season. Supporters will be hoping Oxlade-Chamberlain stays after some impressive performances in central midfield recently.
Walcott’s view
Theo Walcott has added his thoughts to the crisis at the club. Walcott said, “things have happened, we can’t be fighting each other. We need to take the pressure off the manager and that will happen by performances.”
Sanchez saga rumbles on
According to the Guardian, Alexis Sanchez has a massive offer on the table from a rival club. This has given him the ammunition to demand a non-negotiable pay rise at Arsenal for around £250,000 a week.
Ozil contract
Continuing with contract talks, it now seems that Mesut Ozil has turned down a £200,000 a week deal. The news will come as a shock to Arsenal who were hoping to tie the German down with a new contract.
Sickness bug
After Mesut Ozil recovered from his sickness bug, only for Danny Welbeck to miss the Bayern Munich Champions League match with the same bug as well as Alex Iwobi. There are fears the sickness bug could sweep through the club. Arsene Wenger will be keen to have a fit squad available to him for the FA Cup match against Lincoln this weekend.
Arsene and Pep
According to the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger stopped Pep Guardiola from joining the club. Apparently when it had become known that Guardiola was leaving Bayern Munich, Arsenal hierarchy approached the Frenchman to ask him to retire a year earlier. Wenger turned down the proposal, and Guardiola went to Manchester City. This seems a little too difficult to believe.
Arsene Wenger
In regards to Arsene Wenger and his decision on whether he will still be at the club next season or not. Various reports of ex-players urging Wenger to leave have surfaced over the last couple of days. But for the time being the Frenchman is still very much in charge. According to the Daily Mirror the Arsenal board have told Wenger he must prove he can reinvent himself before signing a new contract.
Transfer News
According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are interested in buying Middlesbrough centre back Ben Gibson. The 24 year old would cost the club around £30m for his signature. The English man has had an impressive season so far for Middlesbrough.
