Ozil demands
After the defeat against Tottenham and apparently German Mesut Ozil smashing a door in anger, it has emerged from reports that Ozil is holding out for £300,000 per week which is a huge increase from his current salary which stands at £140,000. The 28-year-old feels he deserves the bumper pay rise, however, that is not the view of the club who feel that the midfielder does not deserve that kind of rise. There is also rumblings that Ozil has not been performing well at training and this is another issue for the club.
Ozil anger
Talking of Mesut Ozil’s anger, apparently, the German was less than impressed having to take a drug’s test immediately after the game. According to reports, Ozil at first refused, before being threatened with a fine, and then kicked off leaving stud marks in a door as he lashed out in anger over the fact he feels he gets tested more than others. A clearly unhappy Ozil who remained invisible during the Tottenham match.
Ozil transfer
With Mesut Ozil not as yet signing a new contract and his lackluster performances, the rumours are the club will accept £42m for the player with turkey being a possible destination for the German. Fenerbahce are thought to be interested in bringing the midfielder over.
Rosen sounded out
According to reports, Arsenal have sounded out Alexandra Rosen for the role of director of football. The Hoffenheim director of football has had huge success at the German club after bringing in manager Julian Nagelsmann and a host of transfers.
Rosen it seems is on a three-man shortlist which include Ajax’s Marc Overmars and Borussia Dortmund official Michael Zorc.
Manager Arsene Wenger is still not keen on the idea of a director of football, as the club look to reshape the current setup.
Van Dijk a blue?
Chelsea look favourites to sign Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk after throwing Andreas Christiansen into the transfer as well as cash. Christiansen is currently on loan with German club Borussia Monchengladbach and plays centre-back would give the southern club cover if they lose van Dijk.
Arsenal had felt they had stolen the race to sign the Dutchman by making him one of the club’s highest paid players but it seems Chelsea has taken a lead in his signature.
Dixon slams stars
Ex-Gunner Lee Dixon has slammed some of the Arsenal players for failing to acknowledge the Arsenal away faithful after the weekend’s disappointing loss to Tottenham. Petr Cech was one of a handful of players that went to the away end, with the majority of the players heading straight off down the tunnel at the full-time whistle. Dixon remarked “no excuse for walking off the pitch without so much as a nod to the travelling fans. You know who you are!”
