Mesut Ozil looks to be in a happy mood with his Arsenal team-mate Per Mertersacker as the Gunners make the trip to Marseille for tomorrow’s Champions League game.
The £42.4m midfielder posed with his German international colleague on the team plane as they headed off to the airport to fly down to the south of France.
Ozil enjoyed a dazzling debut for the Gunners in the weekend’s 3-1 Premier League win at Sunderland despite being up all night with sickness last Thursday.
But the smiling snap he posted on his Twitter account proves he is back to being in good shape ahead of the match.
Ozil posed with his pal shortly after details emerged of how Arsene Wenger landed his man rather than him making the move from Real Madrid to Manchester United.
David Moyes has been criticised by some fans and pundits after failing to lure Ozil, and instead signing Marouane Fellaini for £27.5m from Everton.
Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has lifted the lid on the deal. He said: “I’ve heard a lot of people talk about the departure of Ozil and now it’s my turn to talk.
“Nobody leaves Madrid if they don’t want to leave. Ozil thought he had a lot of competition for places and asked to leave. It doesn’t happen to everyone.
“The coaching staff’s decision was to let Ozil leave. We received a good bid and everyone was satisfied. We wish him all the best.”
