Paul Merson has changed his prediction and now reckons Arsenal will win the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Gunners retained their place at the top of the table despite dropping points against Liverpool last Saturday. We are in a great position, and Merson saw enough in Arsenal‘s performance at Anfield to believe we can win it this season.

Paul Merson backs Arsenal to win the Premier League title
At the start of the season, Paul Merson believed Manchester City would win the Premier League title again ahead of Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola‘s side are the best in the world, and you can’t really blame Merson for backing them to win their fourth consecutive league title.
However, City haven’t been great this season, and the two favourites, as things stand, are Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool.
Merson didn’t back the Gunners until we played at Anfield on Saturday, but after seeing our performance, the pundit has changed his mind.
He said on Sky Sports today: “I think Liverpool might think they should’ve shaded it in the second half but I thought it was a proper game of football, end to end, both teams wanting to win and played at an electric pace.
“Arsenal are a different team now, they learnt a lot last season, and putting Declan Rice in there has taken them to an absolute another level, in my opinion.
“I think they go on and win it now. My mate said Arsenal would win the league at the start of the season but I was thinking ‘nah’.
“I think they would’ve rolled over two years ago and got beat by four or five at Liverpool, but they didn’t, they hung in there, and they could’ve maybe nicked it if they picked the right chance.”

Arsenal need to score more goals
It’s all well and good to see Arsenal on top of the Premier League table after 18 games, but there is still a lot of things we can improve on.
Goalscoring has been an issue this season. Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka are our top scorers in the Premier League so far with just five goals. That’s not good enough.
The January transfer window is less than a week away, and if Arsenal can get in a new striker who will guarantee regular goals, we will be very difficult to stop.
Up next for Arsenal is a game against West Ham, and we have to beat teams like them quite comfortably if we want to add to our 13 league titles this season.
