Arsenal are still on the lookout for reinforcements in this summer’s transfer window.
The Gunners have been busy, but they have only signed two players so far – David Raya’s loan was turned into a permanent deal and Riccardo Calafiori was brought in from Serie A side Bologna.
The focus now is on a new midfielder, and reports have claimed that Mikel Merino is Arsenal’s top target in that position.
Once that’s done, many feel Arsenal will explore the attackers market, and Paul Scholes has suggested one name that he thinks will help the Gunners win the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season.
Paul Scholes suggests Ivan Toney to Arsenal
Paul Scholes is one of the most accomplished players in the history of the Premier League.
The Englishman won 11 league titles during his time as a Manchester United player, and he knows what it takes to go all the way in the title race.
Arsenal have come really close to clinching the Premier League crown in two consecutive seasons. They finished five points behind Manchester City in the 2022/23 campaign and fell just two points short last term.
Now, everyone is expecting Arsenal to go that one step further, and Scholes believes they need help at the top end of the pitch to achieve that goal.
The Manchester United legend has suggested Ivan Toney to the Gunners.
Scholes believes that the Brentford star, who is of interest to Tottenham in this window (GiveMeSport), will guarantee 25 goals a season if he joins Arsenal.
That could make the difference in the title race.
Scholes said on The Overlap: “I think signing a centre-forward would help. Signing an out-and-out number nine, like Man City, who would score 20 to 25 goals, then yeah, it would help.
“Ivan Toney is the one who has been mentioned a lot. What is he? 28 years of age? I think in an Arsenal team, he could score you 25 goals. I think in a lot of teams he could score 25 goals.”

The one big reason why Arsenal don’t want Ivan Toney
Toney was linked with a move to Arsenal for over a year.
The Englishman, who is available for around £50m (talkSPORT), is a brilliant striker. He is big, strong, good in the air, can link play up and most importantly, he is lethal in front of goal.
Toney checks all the boxes for Arsenal and many other clubs who are interested in a new striker, but Arteta has decided he isn’t the one for the Gunners.
That’s because Toney’s behaviour hasn’t impressed Arsenal – they don’t like the way he has conducted himself at times in games.
We all know how much of a disciplinarian Arteta is, and the last thing he’d want to do is bring in someone who could disrupt the unity in the squad.
As good as Toney is, he is not the solution for Arsenal this summer.
