Pep Guardiola has revealed that he has heard a very interesting statistic about Arsenal and Manchester City’s points tally after 13 Premier League games this season.

The Gunners are on top of the league table going into the games this weekend – two points ahead of the defending champions. That’s impressive on its own, but wait till you hear what Guardiola heard a few days ago.

Pep Guardiola says he’s heard an incredible stat about Arsenal

After 13 Premier League games this season, Arsenal have 34 points on board having won 11 games and lost just one. We’ve been incredible so far this campaign, and long may it continue.

City, on the other hand, have picked up 32 points after 13 games. That, according to a member of Guardiola’s staff, is better than what they managed at this stage in each of the last four seasons.

That is an incredible stat, and the fact that Arsenal have picked up more points than the Cityzens now shows just have brilliant we have been since the start of the campaign.

Guardiola believes what Arsenal have set this season is ‘the standard’.

He said, as per Football London: “We could be top of the league! But Arsenal have been exceptional.

“I think yesterday one guy on my staff told me that we had more points in the Premier League [at this stage of the season] than I think in the last four seasons!

“So that means we have been really good, but another team has been better. We have to accept it. This is the level, the bar, the standards.”

The Insider’s View:

That is an extraordinary stat, but wait, there’s more good news for Arsenal fans.

Just as we were about to publish this article, Brentford have scored a late winner against Manchester City. That means Arsenal will go into the World Cup as the Premier League leaders.

What makes it even better is that if we win our game at Wolves tonight, we will be five points clear at the top of the table, which would be absolutely amazing.

Could Mikel Arteta, the student, really go on and get one over his master, the great Pep Guardiola this season? Time will tell.
