The scenes in the away end were jubilant at the Amex, as after Arsenal beat Brighton, news reached the south coast that Manchester City dropped points against Nottingham Forest.

It was Arsenal’s dream and Man City’s worst nightmare on matchday 29, as the Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

While Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal squad celebrated a hard-fought win at Brighton, Pep Guardiola was left dejected over at the Etihad.

It felt like a statement night in the Premier League title race, and the reaction of both managers proved that.

Pep Guardiola knew how disappointing Manchester City’s draw against Nottingham Forest was

Reporting on Premier League Productions, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour enjoyed the win, dubbing it an ‘amazing night’, but not so much for Guardiola.

“What an amazing night. Arsenal played pretty poorly, but they got the result. Man City drama at the end, unbelievable.”

Parlour then shared what he saw from Guardiola at full-time at the Etihad.

“Did you see Pep’s face at the end? He knows this is a massive night – and an excellent one for Arsenal.”

Guardiola’s reaction was no surprise, as the race for the Premier League title took a significant leap in Arsenal’s favour.

The City manager wouldn’t have liked what he saw from his side, who squandered two leading positions in the game to drop two vital points.

It certainly made the table read in Arsenal’s favour, but Guardiola didn’t give too much away regarding his thoughts on the title race.

“There are a lot of games to play, so we have to continue,” he told TNT Sports at full-time.

City have nine games left to play and have a game in hand over Arsenal, so the title race has by no means been wrapped up.

It can’t be ignored that this was a significant game week for Arsenal, but the Gunners will know more than most how quickly things can change in the Premier League.
