Peter Crouch has sung the praises of an Arsenal talent who he thinks has been “unbelievable”.

The Gunners have put together a superb squad over the past few years, and they’re looking more and more like the finished product.

In addition, Arsenal have made the most of their academy setup to bring in a host of superb youngsters and turn them into established first-teamers.

Peter Crouch has now spoken about one of those youngsters, whose rise he has described as “great to see”.

Peter Crouch explains what has impressed him so much about Max Dowman

The player in question is Max Dowman, who has made his breakthrough this season after making waves at Hale End over the past few years.

Aged 15 years and 235 days, Dowman became the second-youngest player in Premier League history when he came on in the 5-0 win over Leeds United.

Crouch, speaking on That Peter Crouch Podcast, said Dowman has no fear, just like fellow youngster Rio Ngumoha at Liverpool.

“These kids now, they haven’t got any fear,” said Crouch. “When I see them coming through now, Max Dowman obviously came on at Arsenal, didn’t he?

“What is he, 15, 16 years old? He’s just taking the ball, just going past people. Rio’s the same, just no nerves, it feels like.

“Unbelievable to be fair, great to see.”

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott said Dowman is the kind of player who will ‘terrify everyone’ he plays against.

And Rio Ferdinand said Dowman’s mentality is as good as it gets.

The likelihood of Max Dowman featuring against Liverpool

Arsenal have made it clear they will not throw Dowman in at the deep end, which is the right thing to do.

However, the Gunners have a number of injury issues ahead of their trip to Liverpool, which could see Dowman back in the squad.

Bukayo Saka has been ruled out of Arsenal’s trip to Anfield after sustaining a hamstring injury against Leeds, while Kai Havertz will also be missing.

Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Christian Norgaard are all doubts for the game, so with that in mind, Dowman should fancy his chances of making the bench again.
