Writing on The Residency, Aubameyang has been fielding questions from fans about his career, and he was asked one very interesting question.
The striker was asked to name the best playmaker he worked with during his entire career, and, interestingly, he named one of his former Arsenal teammates as one of the first names that came to mind.

Ultimately, the Gabon international couldn’t pick just one name, instead choosing three players.
Among those players was Mesut Ozil, who earned acclaim from Aubameyang alongside both Marco Reus and Ousmane Dembele.

Ozil and Aubameyang were two incredible talents in the prime of their careers, but, interestingly, they weren’t great together for Arsenal.

Aubameyang named Ozil as one of the best playmakers he ever worked alongside at Arsenal, but, remarkably, their record together really isn’t great.
Indeed, while Ozil was a fantastic playmaker and Aubameyang was an incredible finisher, the German actually only assisted Aubameyang once during his time at Arsenal.

Arsenal really weren’t a great team during this time, and that’s probably why Mikel Arteta rang in massive changes quickly at the Emirates and he got rid of both Ozil and Aubameyang promptly.
In their heyday, both Aubameyang and Ozil were amazing for Arsenal, but, sadly, it would appear they didn’t manage to get the best out of one another as the stats show they didn’t have all that great a partnership.
In another world, Ozil and Aubameyang could have been one of the Premier League’s most iconic partnerships, but, sadly, it didn’t quite work out that way for the pair at the Emirates.
