One former Arsenal player believes he was faster than the likes of Kyle Walker and Marcus Rashford.

Arsene Wenger absolutely loved fast players. He signed a number of attackers who were almost unbeatable in a race, and many of them had successful careers at Highbury and the Emirates.

Arsenal have plenty of players who are rapid in their current squad too, but many people believe Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is the quickest in the Premier League.

The former Tottenham man is lightning-fast, there is no debate there, but one old Arsenal player believes he was actually faster than Walker.

Theo Walcott names the only Premier League player who’s faster than him

Theo Walcott spent over a decade at Arsenal before Wenger sold him to Everton in 2018.

The Englishman joined the Gunners as a teenager from Southampton and played nearly 400 games for the club. He scored 108 goals, provided 73 assists and won five trophies.

Walcott had a number of incredible traits, but the first thing that pops up in everybody’s mind is the blistering pace he possessed.

Jack Wilshere has even branded Walcott as the fastest player he ever faced in his career, having played with and against him in the past.

Walcott also claimed that he beat Thierry Henry’s speed record when he was at Arsenal and was adamant that he is the fastest Gunner of all time.

Now, the former Arsenal winger, in a video on BBC 5 Live’s Instagram, has claimed that he is faster than the likes of Anthony Gordon, Raheem Sterling, Aaron Lennon, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy, Michael Owen and even ex-Tottenham star Walker.

Walcott then revealed that there is only one player who is faster than him.

“I was waiting for Adama Traore,” he said. “He’s the one player that beats me!”

Who was Arsenal’s fastest player in 2023/24?

Arsenal may not have anyone as quick as Walcott in their current squad, but there are a few players who are very, very fast.

Gabriel Martinelli is the first one that comes to mind, while Reiss Nelson is also up there. Bukayo Saka is pretty quick too, while Ben White is also in the conversation.

Takehiro Tomiyasu claimed that Eddie Nketiah is the fastest player at Arsenal in a video back in May. Kai Havertz believes Martinelli is the fastest at the club.

At the end of the 2023/24 season, the Premier League’s official website released the list of the fastest players in the division, and not a single Arsenal player made the top 10.

However, the fastest Gunner was revealed – it’s Martinelli with a top speed of 36.33 kmph.
