Max Dowman has been training with the Arsenal first team for over a year now, but he had to wait for his chance.
Premier League rules did not permit him to feature for the senior side last season, because he was just 14 at the time.
This season, no rules got in the way, and Mikel Arteta had the freedom to use Dowman as he pleased.
The youngster made his debut as a 15-year-old, and he has now played enough games to earn a winners’ medal should the Gunners go all the way.
That has been recognised by the Premier League, who have just awarded him the Homegrown Debutant of the Season award.
Dowman received the accolade jointly with Rio Ngumoha of Liverpool, who is also a superstar in the making.
Max Dowman will be even better for Arsenal next season
This has been Dowman’s first-ever season as a senior professional.
Even then, Arteta has made him drop down to the academy sides and play a few games for them as well.
Next season, we expect Dowman to be much more of a first-team player, and we expect him to get many more minutes as well.
That is when we’ll see him develop even further and become a much better player.
