Didi Hamann believes Arsenal have a serious chance of winning both the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
The Gunners currently sit at the summit of the English top flight after eight matches, three points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s side thrashed Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night to secure their third win from three matches in Europe this term.
The North Londoners certainly look like one of the best teams in the world at the moment, and this has prompted many pundits to tip them to achieve something unprecedented this season.

Didi Hamann says Arsenal could win both the Premier League and Champions League
Few sides look as imperious as Arsenal right now.
The Gunners have the perfect blend of defensive resilience and attacking flair, and this has led to Arteta’s side dominating almost every team they come up against.
The Spaniard’s outfit blew Atletico away in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and this particular performance appears to have made an impact on how the rest of Europe views the North Londoners.
Alan Shearer thinks Arsenal will win the Premier League, and Liverpool legend Didi Hamann has gone a step further by claiming that the Gunners can also win the continental competition.
“At the moment I’d say yes [Bayern can compete], but I’d still say that, if you look at Arsenal and Paris, they’re probably a bit better equipped than Bayern,” Hamann said on talkSPORT.
“What I like with Arsenal is what they haven’t had for the last, I don’t know, 10, 15 years. They’re functional, and obviously they’ve got the best defence in the Premier League, maybe the best defence in the Champions League as well.
“They don’t concede many goals. I think they’ve only conceded three or four so far in all competitions. And when you do that with the quality they’ve got going forward, I just feel they’re the team to beat in the Premier League and maybe even in the Champions League.”

Who are Arsenal’s main competitors in Europe?
It certainly looks like an open Champions League this season.
The holders Paris Saint-Germain are arguably the only team who look as complete as Arsenal right now, as Hamann alluded to, and the French giants will certainly reach the latter stages again.
Aside from the Parisians, there aren’t any teams that should strike real fear into the Gunners. Bayern Munich are in a rich vein of form, although the German side are yet to prove themselves against the most challenging opposition on the continent.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester City both certainly have the capacity to go all the way in Europe. Barcelona’s offensive talent means they’ll be in the mix, although there are question marks around Hansi Flick’s team defensively.
Real Madrid have impressed in glimpses under Xabi Alonso, although they remain something of an unknown quantity.
