Raheem Sterling has announced a new project after returning to Chelsea from his loan at Arsenal.

Regrettably, things didn’t work out for Sterling at Arsenal after the winger was captured by Edu Gaspar on deadline day in 2024.

There was a lot of promise regarding the season-long loan, despite the 30-year-old not being the target fans wanted to be delivered.

Sterling said his farewell to Arsenal and returned to Stamford Bridge, where his contract expires in 2027.

Raheem Sterling launches his own academy

Sterling’s career took a huge step backwards as a result of his move to Arsenal, scoring once in 28 appearances.

As a result, it’s no surprise to learn that the former England international is struggling to pick up interest from other clubs, with his future at Chelsea dead in the water.

In what is a difficult time in the player’s career, Sterling has put his experience to great use, as he revealed in an Instagram post.

The four-time Premier League winner has launched his own academy, called ‘The RS7 Academy’.

Sterling’s son signed for Arsenal’s academy, which was the motivation for the ex-loanee to create his own academy.

“Over the last year, I was looking for a space for my own son to flourish, get more touches and improve every day. So, I decided to create it myself.

“The RS7 Academy is all about giving young players support, structure and belief. I believe that talent needs nurturing, not just training.

“We mix elite coaching with personal development — helping the next generation of footballers grow in confidence, skill and love for the game.”

It’s a fantastic project for Sterling to launch, one that several of his former Arsenal teammates have supported by liking the post.

Sterling’s market value hasn’t stopped plummeting

Launching his own academy is brilliant for Sterling, at a really difficult time in his playing career.

It’s unclear where the winger’s next steps will be, as his stock has plummeted by €150m in six years, as per Transfermarkt

While at Manchester City, Sterling boasted a peak market value of €160m, which, after his stint at Arsenal, now sits at just €10m.

Playing-wise, the future is unclear for the Premier League star, but away from the action, what he’s building is so special.
