Italian publication Tuttosport have revealed why Arsenal failed to agree terms with Juventus over the transfer of Italian centre-half Daniele Rugani this summer.
The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Italian defender and a two-year loan deal was widely reported. However, a deal failed to materialise and Unai Emery acquired the services of David Luiz from London rivals Chelsea instead.
The report reveals that the deal broke through because Arsenal refused an obligation to buy clause inserted in the contract. Juventus were adamant to move the defender on but Arsenal have certainly dodged a bullet.
Rugani was once one of the brightest prospects in world football but his development has stalled since 2016. He appears to always has an error in him and the move could have proved to be disastrous for Arsenal.
Another report from Tuttosport has revealed that Ligue 1 side Monaco are now in advanced negotiations with Juventus for Rugani and a move is likely to happen before the end of their transfer window.
