According to The Times, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will hold talks with Nicolas Pepe following his red card against Leeds United on Sunday.
The Ivorian had started just once in the league before the game at Elland Road at the weekend and he was not happy with his situation. Arteta handed him a start he arguably deserved, and he completely blew it.
The Arsenal boss was not happy after the game. He called Pepe’s behaviour ‘unacceptable’ and claimed that the former Lille man had let the whole team down. (Read here)
Pepe has come under a lot of criticism from fans and pundits following his dismissal at Leeds on Sunday. He will miss the next three games due to suspension, including the one against Tottenham Hotspur in the first week of December.
The report claims that although Arteta is disappointed with his behaviour, he is not going to fine Pepe. The Ivorian will be given a chance to impress in the Europa League during his absence in the Premier League. He is expected to start against Molde on Thursday and he has to deliver.
Pepe will also not be allowed to leave the club in January – either on loan or on a permanent deal. He still has a future at the club, and it is high time that he shows his worth on a consistent basis.
