Riccardo Calafiori is very much one of Mikel Arteta’s success stories in the transfer market and the Italian defender has now given a glimpse into life under the Spaniard.
Arteta has made a number of big signings during his time at Arsenal but Calafiori is very much among those he has improved since arriving.
Calafiori is Arsenal’s first-choice left-back and speaking about his manager, the Italian has explained just how good he is.

Riccardo Calafiori praises Mikel Arteta’s effort levels
We all know that Mikel Arteta is a hard-working manager and we can see it with our own eyes.
However, it’s always good to get a bit of a unique insight into things and according to Riccardo Calafiori, it’s impressive to watch Arteta operate.

“Obviously he’s a really demanding guy, but I like it. It’s always better when your coach is asking you things in a good way, in a bad way, but it’s always nice to learn and it’s crazy how much effort he puts every time, every day,” Calafiori revealed for Sky Sports.
“And especially like for me, I can speak about me. He wants me to improve as much as I can.”
What Mikel Arteta has said about his management style
For Mikel Arteta, a lot of what he has built at Arsenal comes down to how he gets the best out of a group of players put together from around the world.
Indeed, that is something not lost on the Arsenal boss, with Arteta speaking back in 2023 about the importance of creating a bond.
“You go into a dressing room full of different people and different characters,” Arteta has said previously.
“I was looking at them the other day, just walking around and I realised we had 19 different nationalities.
“The way they interact with each other, the way they talk to each other, the way they have banter with each other, the way they demand from each other, it’s fascinating.
Keep, sell or loan – what should Arsenal do with Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer?
“They all have their own story, but they are all here in London, at Colney, together seeking the same dream. It’s extraordinary. It doesn’t happen in many industries and I must enjoy that.”
Clearly, a few years on from those comments, Arteta has managed the situation perfectly and we are now just a few months away from Arsenal potentially being champions.
